Modernizing the T-shirt Quilt

So, I am really into the t-shirt quilt thing now, but I am on a mission to modernize it.  Yes, the traditional ones are nice!  But frankly, as an artist, they can be a little boring.  I decided to tilt the blocks this time.

I also added a "Mondrian-like" border.  I will definitely make my borders wider next time so the "tilt" can be even greater.  Also I may try alternating blocks as opposed to columns to make it more apparent.  But overall, I like it a lot.  I have so many sorority tees that I actually have three works in progress, and I still have some to wear!

Artsy Shoes

I have always admired the graffiti that I see on moving trains, and this past summer my husband surprised me with an anniversary trip to an artsy destination I have always wanted to visit:  San Francisco.  I got to see lots of awesome graffiti all over the place:

I also have been wanting to do my own "graffiti" on a pair of shoes, and I finally took the step to do some.  They are still a work in progress, but I have finally drawn everything on it.

They have some of my favorite things, plus a little doodling.  Now, I just have to add the color!  I have to have them done by Halloween, so I can wear them to the Quilt Festival!

Color...Dispersed!

Here is one of my works in progress.  All I have left to do is the quilting.  This step always frightens me, but I guess I just need to get started and see it through to the end.  At the very least, it can be a learning experience!

UFOs!

I have quite a few UFOs (unfinished objects) that I have racked up over the summer.  I have also finished a few things as well.  (Including a few of those 6X6 weekly challenge pieces!) Hopefully, I will get around to posting pictures very soon. I am pretty excited about a series of small works that I have begun.  They are based on the Rorshach tests.  You have seen them--though you probably didn't know the real names for them!  Look it up!

Let's keep it goin'!

I am trying to knock out some of my UFOs, and here are some of my finished pieces. As usual, they are based on some photos that I took earlier this year.  I am really excited about these because I am offering them for sale in my Etsy shop.  Well, actually I am offering custom fiber art in the same style.
